I am 19 years old. I live in the Bronx of New York City. I grew up in a gang-eviroment (drugs, ganbangers, prostitutes). There is really no yoyo scene in New York. I got into it because of my grandmother, who has passed on a few months ago. She said some of her uncles worked for Duncan yoyos back in the 30and 40's. This is what inspired me to yoyo. I started at 16, and havent put down a yoyo ever since. I have only been in 1 contest. That was the New York State Contest. I placed 3rd (2nd Overall). That was the greatest moment of my life. I got videos of AJ Kirk, Vasek Kroutil, Hadrien, Jake Bullock, Abe Z, and Giradi. I got the local players like J-Vann too. My dream is to join 4 of any team. (Duncan, Yoyofactory, Yoyojam, or Anti-Yo). I also, went I get signed to have my own signature yoyo. I want the Green Triangle Project to be the biggest and best video project of all time. I want to be part of this project to change the way yoyoing is forever. I want it to go down in history. I want to tell my kids that I was apart of something BIG!!!!! (ok too preachy) I plan on going to alot of contest in 2008. NYS was just a preview. Time to hit the nation!

Was gonna PM you to apologize cuz my son said I was too hard on you on the phone the other day.
But now . . .
I find the above statement to be insulting to the many fine ( and not so fine, but enthusiastic ) yoers of the NY Tri State area who have been meeting consistently and representing every Sunday in Union Square for the past few months . . .
. . . and have been wondering ( after many posts, phone calls and invitations ) if and when you were ever gonna show up. 
It's now gotten a bit too cold to meet and play outside, but at the risk of repeating myself - You have an open invitation ( as does the rest of the world ) to join us at any of our meets.
We're currently scouting for indoor public spaces so that the meets might continue somehow thru the winter.
And if YYN ever has another official meet, I suggest you attend. You'd be surprised at the number of yoers that show up at one of these things.

I don't think you meant to be insulting, and I don't mean to sound like some kinda indignant, outraged jerk, It's really all good - but I could be a little more understanding and forgiving if this was being written  two years ago.
I don't think the ten or fifteen people that get together regularly would agree with you that there's no NY yoyo "scene".
How solipsistic ( Look it up ) of you just cuz it's not at your door step. ( Always wanted to use solipsistic in a sentence. lol ).
We've all been here, posting and meeting and playing and hitting competitions up and down the East Coast and what-not for a while now. One of the reasons for this, besides loving to yo and hang out w/ each other, is cuz we all believe in and wanna put NY on the map.
When I started, I had to go to Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania to find other yoers - and then I found other NY yoers, and Pat and Weber and YYN in my own backyard as a result.
( Uhh guys . . .  what are you doin' in my backyard ? )

What I am saying where I am from. I am not a traveling type guy. I now there is alot of areas in New York that have a scence and I understand. And todd, The reason I couldnt go to the meet because my grandmother was dying, And todd, You were very nice to me on the phone there is no need to apologize to me. To spoke your peace and I respect it. I think any yoyer in New York is cool to me. I GUARANTEE YOU I WILL GO TO EVERY SINGLE MEETING FROM NOW ON! I swear on my yoyos!! (I dont know about that I love them). And I am from Castle Hill Ave/Weschester near the Crossbronx and stuff. Contact me if yall want to remind of meetings.

You mean to tell me that you've been quietly playin' on your own in da Bronx somewhere - for three years - and have learned how to play from watching videos n stuff ?

hopefully next year i'll have more cash and transport so i can get down to the meets. might have to arrange a crash at pat's hospitality suite
