Good video, but I guess I'm not seeing what everyone else is.
Yes it was new and it was innovative, but to say it's the greatest video ever made would be a bit much IMO. I have trouble putting this next to EX3CUTE or others as the greatest video of all time...
now I know this is gonna get me flamed, but it makes me wonder once again about the power of hype. I see alot of other great videos come out and all that happens is people say, nice video, great video, whatever, and then the post gets buried under others.
Now be honest... If you're going to say this is the greatest yoyo video of all time OR EVEN the greatest yoyo video of the year, does that mean you think it's better then yuukis freestyle?
I dont know. great video, I guess I just dont know. Maybe I'm too much of a noob to see the greatness
Wow! I really agree. None of those tricks where innovative IMO. I guess I just don't see much in them.

There's a considerable difference between a great video and a great freestyle.

no mines_bigger, you are not too much of a noob to clearly state that you do not see the greatness because your opinion is correct on a individual level versus that of the majority. how people could go forth and flame you for stating something like what you just did obviously shows a dislike in a difference of opinion, a backlack. another person can say how wrong you are because of your views to make a though that it wasn't the greatest video, and that is fine, let another person think what they will, because its all on a individual level of reason. I can see how people are excited and refreshed for the development of green triangles website and of spencers new video that he has presented as a sort of taste. this is due to the meaning behind the video that people that were told of this, knew about, where as the rest of the yoyo community that do not have those special connective ways of gaining information (aka nationals) have no idea about it so of course people will have a different opinion. the video itself, when it comes to the form of editing, I viewed it as, and just stating about the editing, not of the tricks mind you or the meaning behind it, that I figure it was above par, due to the creation of the noise, and how synced it was for the tricks being displayed. the enviroment or the backround, was bland since it was all in one perticular spot and merely only a few angles. the tricks were quite a interesting site, especially to see a creation similar to breath, and shepard itself, somehow combining string rejection? not too sure as I have not d/led the vid and seen it one frame at a time. I can agree that this video will innovate players to play and create new tricks. but don't nearly almost all vids that has yoyoing that is considered "new" to the viewer nearly make them want to go ahead and create stuff? most often at times. which for a fact this video does indeed. but..I myself do not think this is the "greatest" video of all time. the video I consider the best out of the last 8 years or so has been "wish we were at worlds". =] and to what nathan said, I agree with that, there is a clear different of a freestyle video versus that of a trick/clip video for that matter. there is a difference in category.

I think it is. Certain people really appreciate and enjoy Spencer's yo-yoing. Spencer's tricks to me have the most meaning in them, and I can see the work put into them when I see the trick. That's why I think this video is the best video I've ever seen. Exactly. One thing i've always strived for with my tricks, is a purpose. Every trick i do (or at least finish) has a purpose to it, it doesn't have a bunch of string hits in it that don't achieve anything just to enforce "difficulty". This video is the absolute definition of that and it's the first video to come out in....probably 18 months to 2 years that actually made me play a little different when i picked up a yoyo.

I love this discussion.
I made this video to showcase what I love about yoyoing. I love trick concepts that are beyond technical execution. I love no fluff editing. I love noises and edits and the ways they can complement a vision and a story. I love color and the way I can subtly toy with it to make a vision stronger.
I do not expect everyone to love the same things I do. That is what makes this community valid: Diversity. I love the doubtful, skeptical feedback. It is both valid and important. I am not here to trick or deceive you into loving my video. I do not believe people are hyping it because they want you to love it as much as they do - they hype because they love it and want to share it.
My point is coming slowly, but here it is: All of you are apart of the yoyo community. I want you all to be a part of this project - wether or not you agree that what I am doing is important or of value, or simply think I make arrogant videos of simple, naive yoyo tricks.
The Green Triangle Project is about the entirety of yoyoing, not just a piece.

thats awesome, im glad your doing something like this to contribute to the yoyo community. I thougth the video was awesome, the sound effects werent really my thing but it makes the video stand out , the lighting is good, This vid reminded me alot of yuuki's part in the save deth video, yuukis spencer berry. Im more into technical stuff but that was still fun to watch and im diggin the string rejections:)

wow. i can't say if it's the "best ever", but only because i haven't watched too many videos. it is however, one of the best i've seen. now i'm at work searching through youtube for yo-yoing videos. nice. i love my job. in any case, the tricks you throw down in that video are amazing. incredible even. i've watched it a few times now and i can't wait to get home and throw for a bit. i won't be replicating any of the tricks any time soon, but i will spend a lot of time trying. excellent work. i'm looking forward to seeing this GT project's direction. should be sweet.
