So if this one is new and improved, how has it been improved? I bought one of the original run and was pretty disappointed in it. Never could get it to play the way I like.

Better metal (won't strip allegedly; mine hasn't), lip around the bearing therefore bigger gap, slightly different shape (a little taller and narrower than a FHZ) annnndddd that's all I can think of. The color is still just paint though  I've never rolled one of the first ones so I can't compare them, but I can tell you that this is a really good yoyo. Good competition for the $40 YYJs in my opinion. |

The corner of the rim is rounded (more like the FHZ). The hubs are narrower and longer for the axle to fit in different spacer settings with out stripping the threads. The paint also seems different and doesn't rub off as easily during rim grinds. Like Ando said, the aluminum is higher quality and I immediately noticed the difference (feels nice!). It has a real recess now, although recess is not as deep as I hoped for, but it is better than the original. Both version of the Metal Zero spins pretty smooth with the right spacer setting. I found that one large and one small spacer is smoothest on mine. Other people's may be different and will require a different setup. Not bad at all for a $40 metal yoyo. |
