I was walking the streets of santa monica and spotted a yo-yo in someone's hand... So I asked to try the yo-yo and showed him some tricks. This really made me smile to see how much yo-yos are spreading... This was not the first time I've ran into someone with a yo-yo randomly; it's truly great to see others enjoying my favorite pastime. Anyways, have any of you experienced what I have today and a few times before? BTW, if you are the guy I ran into.. Just e-mail me with what yo-yo you were using and how many months you're been yo-yoing and I'd l ;Dove to send you a yo-yo! (email: patrickborg10 AT hotmail.com) Patrick Borgerding

This happened to me a month or so ago. I was eating lunch on break at work and saw a guy throwing by the cross walk right across from my work. He made his way towards me and I approached him. I have been teaching him ever since and he is progressing super fast. Small world isn't it haha

Saw some dude in a guitar store here in Louisville. I was practicing follow and just minding my own business, then some random jim walks up to me and asks to see my yoyo. To my surprise he started busting out White Buddha variations. That was awhile ago, though.

One time i was outside of a store throwing my protostar, when i heard a kid behind me turn to his mom and say, "That one's the protostar!" i would have said something to him but by the time i binded he had crossed the street. (It was a pretty busy area.) Now, i always keep my eye out for him when i'm in that area. Hopefully i can show him some tricks or something.

Which guitar store was it? And why do I hear about all these yoyoers in Louisville AFTER I leave?! Oh, and to contribute to the thread, I was in my local mall one time waiting around for something, so I had my Ti Walker out and was throwing a little bit. Then some dude spots me and he and the two girls he was with walk over to me. He then proceeds to bust out a Metal Drifter and throws some moderately decent 5A. It was pretty cool, though the guy was definitely not someone who I could see myself hanging out with... Then another time, I was at a shopping center near my house and I saw some guy across the street at a bus stop throwing a yoyo around. So I pull into the closest parking spot on the other side of the street and catch his attention by throwing some Eli Hops on my Dreadnought. All I could hear through the traffic was a faint "you're a lot better than me!" lol.

Why didnt you just go talk to him ? You pull into the parking lot across from him, and start yoyoing so hell notice you ? Seems a bit backwards to me ? I saw a kid throwing his yoyo at the local McD's shortly after I had started throwing, and he was throwing a silver maverick(I had just go my first YYF lol), and not half bad if I recall, so I stopped and chatted quickly to him, he was due to work in a few minutes and didnt have time to exchange much more than intros, and who knows, maybe he felt weird about some stranger approaching him in a McD's parking lot....LOL. In all seriousness, just talk to people, they are the same as you, Ive never been shy about talking to others, I know it isnt as easy for everyone as it is for me, but it has helped me out of so many tight jams, and Ive met many, many friends in the process, I think it is worth the bit of discomfort I might've felt due to shyness or not wanting to impose or whatever the heck it was, I guess what I mean is I am a naturally shy person, quite content to be quite and not be noticed, so being outgoing is work for me, but it has paid off. Thats all I am trying to say. Peace.

Seems a bit backwards to me ? lol perhaps I didn't paint the picture properly. The road I'm talking about is a busy 5 lane road with no crosswalks where I was. He was standing across the street from the shopping center, so to cross and get over to him from my position would have meant certain death. Either that or pull up right at the bus stop and get my car pummelled from the rear. I actually tried to get his attention by yelling out to him but he couldn't hear me because all the traffic was too loud.

Which guitar store was it? And why do I hear about all these yoyoers in Louisville AFTER I leave?! Well it was awhile ago, like 8 months. But I think it was called "Guitar Center" I saw a kid throwing his yoyo at the local McD's shortly after I had started throwing, and he was throwing a silver maverick(I had just go my first YYF lol), and not half bad if I recall, so I stopped and chatted quickly to him, he was due to work in a few minutes and didnt have time to exchange much more than intros, and who knows, maybe he felt weird about some stranger approaching him in a McD's parking lot....LOL. I work at a McD's and I come like half an hour early and just throw everyday in the lobby. I usually get a crowd of people telling me I shouldn't be working there lol. I don't get why I hear people talking about receiving negative comments while throwing in public. I throw in public almost everyday and no one has ever said anything mean to me.
