Hey folks, Well, what happens when I have a few hours and a bold sense of adventure? I cut up some nice yoyos! Recently, I acquired an all black Ace I... and one of Doc's new Bolts (thank you Doc!)... and Takeshi's latest mods on ebay inspired me to get cuttin' It was fun and scary... I learned some new things along the way. It came out to 55.5grams and seriously plays GREAT! Smoother and better than my SPR'd Ace IIs... and (thank you lathe gods) no wobble what so ever. Otherwise, I think the pictures speak for themselves:      (BTW: The Bolt hubs sticking up on the inside look huge in the photos... it sticks up about 0.010" and I did this to keep the Ace I recess as is and retain some celcon at the base of the push-out holes... in hindsight, I would do it diferently for appearences) Weeeeee!! Dude, I can't wait to try this. It looks like it might be your best mod yet.
In a sense though, it does sort of break my heart to see such a special yo-yo get all torn up like that. But I guess you can always get more Bolts from me.
It's surprising that the yo-yo is 7.5 grams heavier through this mod... The extra weight must be middle weight, can you tell a difference? It looks like you could cut the ID of the Ace to the OD of the o-ring to reduce the extra inner weight and take care of that flush surface problem... sort of.

As for weight, Monsuer Popular... the bigger bearing and 4 rubber o-rings probably add all that weight.
Also... I'm excited to use the orange Bolt 'wings' on some other mod soon.
As for selling it?
I want it for myself... but for the right price/trade, I might.
$35 for an Ace I... $15 for a Bolt... 3-4 hours of work... sentimental value (first one like this)...

Could you please give us a bit more detail on the interface of the plastic and the aluminum ?
Is it a press fit ?
Is there some sort of flange, lip, on the Bolt part of the yo that accepts the ACE part ?
If a glue, adhesive, is being used, what do you recommend ?
Also - Where'd you score an ACE for $35 ? ? ? ( You don't have to answer this one . )
btw YEAH - AWESOME !
Can't wait to see what you do w/ the left-overs.
