You're most likely not going to find someone who'll tell you exactly how to do it, mainly because it can be dangerous.

Anodizing is an art form. You will not find many step by step guides for it because it isn't that kind of 'paint by number art', it takes a large degree of experimentation, and a lot of the techniques people pioneer and practice are their own, and they are loathe to give up secrets, understandably so, at least too write guides and post them on the net. As mentioned, it is dangerous work, its not bomb making, but there are dangerous chemicals that can cause grievous bodily harm, and even death in some instances. So there's that, and then the fact these are techniques that have been discovered through trial and error, its hard to relate that kind of experience to someone in a few paragraphs, even for a good writer. If you are really serious about learning to anodise, I suggest contacting anodizers, and asking them for advice, if they see you are serious, and respectful, they will help. Good luck.

Anodizing is a process involving electricity and chemicals. It opens up the top layer of aluminum to accept dye. The idea of doing a splash involves dying once, covering a selected "splash area" with a mask, like nail polish, then redying and stripping off the mask. This way you will have one solid color, and spots of your old color. Splashhhh.
