back in the day...
« on: January 19, 2012, 07:18:01 AM »

... I made numerous yoyo's. I've quit my job as a cnc operator years ago but figured I'd show a small portion of the stuff I made here.

Back in the day? How long ago was that? You should totally get back into it! There are all kinds of homebrew yoyo makers out there now.

Were these on a mill, or a lathe with live tooling?

@ fre: I still play, not much but it happens. Starting with a new job turning metal so figured I might as well make a few new ones if I manage to persuade the boss to let me use his machines in the weekend

@ humphrey: Most were turned on a cnc lathe, some on a teach-in lathe and I have a few others laying around that were done on a conventional lathe. No mill involved Smiley

They look really good! The non concentric features are especially neat. I'd like to see more production yoyos with them.

@ Josh:
last yoyo I turned was in the spring of 2008 I think, as I sold a small run of those to a british store in Januari 2009 (had the yoyo's laying around the house for almost a year, I'm terrible at making money)

@ Fre:
Been catching up on released stuff over the years and had a good laugh when I saw the oxy 5. I'm now wondering what sort of axle the ozone will use as it looks kinda familiar as well.
Anyways, you still anodzing stuff? I've got some spares laying around I might send your way once I have some cash to spare.

You should try an oxy 5!  cool

I  don't anodize anymore atm because I'm in the middle of construction works at my house. I doubt I will pick it up again though.
I feel I achieved everything there is to achieve with anodizing and i've not seen anybody take it much further than that, so i kinda lost interest.
Its a lot of work for less and less payoff. Kinda like turning yoyos I guess.

I also don't play that much anymore. Well I do play regularly, but i'm not learning new stuff anymore.
I did go to EYYC last year which was very cool.
