Di Base Stuck/Won't Unscrew
« on: January 10, 2012, 04:17:55 AM »

lol my Di Base is stuck. I finally decided to change the bearing, and it won't unscrew. I haven't tried sticking it in the freezer just yet. I've tried heating it because steel has a smaller expansion constant in comparison to aluminum, but I could be wrong...

Has anyone had the same problem?

How floaty is the 44?
Quote from: YoYoFactory

We measured it on a floaty-o-meter and it scored a 44.

Was it hard screwing it together?  also, do you know whether or not the ano had worn off the bearing seat post?

Miy Di Base is squeeky tight, but that can be a good thing as long as you can get it apart.  Yeah, freezer might work, if not when they are both cold, maybe as it warms up at different rates.

It's really tough.

The only way I was able to get mine to unscrew the first time was the freezer. Then it was super easy.

My hands lol shocked

The freezer didn't work, but I'll try again later. None of my friends could unscrew it either. I might exchange it if that's still possible. I mean, I can't even change the response in the future if it won't unscrew. It's really, really stuck.

I actually found it quite easy to remove the bearing with a YYF bearing removal tool (the longer one, not the newer multi tool). Did notice a bit of anno missing from around the bearing seat though Undecided

In my opinion the Di Base really benefits from a concave bearing. I hated it without, but it's quite decent since I popped in a concave.

i would definetly try to exchange it, especially if they are known for super tight bearing seats.  i have seen a coupple of primos do this where they came to someone with both halves galled to the bearing.

Embarrassed

In that case an exchange might be in order. Sounds like the issue could be more than a tight bearing seat.
