Yesterday while throwing some planet hops I started exaggerating the movement of my arm so that the yoyo was basically stationary (move my arm up as the yoyo is going down then move my arm down as the yoyo climbs the string). I'm wondering if this (or something like it) is an established trick or am I just doing some really goofy planet hops?

Pretty sure it's an established trick called "really goofy planet hops".
Borrowing from poi terminology, if you can make it look real good, you might be able to get away with calling them planet hop isolations.
