Does anyone else just not do frontstyle?

Today I was thinking about it and noticed that I rarely ever do any fronstyle whatsoever. Sure I'll kinda turn my body every now and then to get a regen or whip or something but nothing thats ever legitimate frontstyle.


Anyone else stick to sidestyle?

Yeah same here. I'd really like to change that but I just get so frustrated because I feel like it's nuch harder to keep everything in line. I mean I have like a simple braintwister combo-like thing I fumble through every once in a while, but like you said, no "real" frontstyle.

Mark Montgomery brought up that topic on his Facebook page a few months ago. You guys know that Markmont loves his frontstyle so he was also wondering why not a lot of people make fronstyle tricks and combos.

I can't stick to it because I've been to used to adjusting my tilt in sidestyle play that it's too awkward for me to fix tilt if the yoyo is spinning the opposite way. And I suck at braintwister combos soo T_____T

That's probably why I don't do frontstyle in the first place -- because I'll never be as good as Markmont. The guy's on a whole 'nother level when it comes to braintwister combos.

I throw mainly 5a and i do have one frontstyle combo. I find it a little harder to do frontstyle trick but i try.

I do frontstyle stuff all the time...nothing too crazy but I still have a few fun combos. Frontstyle 3a is also a lot of fun compared to sidestyle starting out when you don't have a good grasp of breakaways with your NTH.

I throw quite a bit of front style. I think brain twister combos are some of the most enjoyable tricks to do.

I find front style easier and more natural. Your preference for front or side style stems from what you practiced most as a beginner. I had a hard time picking up side style because I preferred front style so much. Now I enjoy both, and play side style more and more, but I play faster and with more flow when I throw front style. Maybe someday I'll post a vid to show off some of my braintwister combos. They are very easy and simple, but surprisingly under-rated and neglected by many players. If you don't practice braintwister combos, it is a pity, because I bet you will have fun if you try.

I can do frontstyle stuff just fine, and I'm sure I could easily come up with some stuff that fits my style better. I'm just a stubborn fool who never does it.

I do exactly this, cant throw a proper breakaway. But this does the same thing..

I personally throw and play it a bit to the right side so the yoyo doesn't went straight to my balls, I think that's the safer way to do this.

I used to not throw breakaways, but I switched because of the spin. Breakaways spin in the opposite direction of a frontstyle throw, so when doing sidestyle, the yoyo will snag a lot less with a breakaway.

Unless of course you make new tricks that adapt to and take advantage of the opposite spin. I've always thrown breakaways in sidestyle though so I guess I don't have much room to talk...
