On the direction change/flip that makes bee string different from a 360...i can't seem to get a good enough "pinch" on the string between my index and middle fingers, the string with the yoyo on it just slips through from the weight/slickness of the string. any pointers here?

bee sting is "one of those tricks", like boing-e-boing, it seems easy, but really it's not. it has a lot to do with the timing, you don't actually have to pinch once you get it right.
keep at it. I wish I could help you more here but there's really nothing more to it. I started 5A last spring, and now I start to be able to do bee sting, and still can't really do the tangler.
good luck.

I don't pinch the string between my middle and pointer finger. And I don't quite understand what specifically is happening when you try the trick. I just mount the yo-yo on the string coming from the outstretched counterweight. This may help: -Jacob
