I would just like to update you guys. I have been issued a refund, but I want to clear some things up.This was my first paypal dispute and I'm sure some of you here on the forums have filed for a dispute already so you may have some experience to help answer some things.

Earlier this morning I received 3 emails at once.
The first one stated that 'PayPal has escalated this dispute to a claim.' but it also said 'Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or issue a
refund.' Which is odd considering the next 2 emails.
The second one stated 'We have concluded our investigation into your claim.' and it gave the seller (ereneren546)'s paypal information.
The final email said 'We have concluded our investigation into your case. The seller has issued a refund for the outstanding amount' and gave full information about the seller (ereneren546). It also said 'Supplemental Refund:  $140.00 USD'

I want to ask if it was the seller (ereneren546) who issued the refund or was it Paypal who looked into the case and issued a refund? ereneren546 had said that his dad's paypal (The one he was using) was deleted by Paypal so I'm assuming Paypal closed down his account when they saw the dispute?
Another question is what does 'Supplemental Refund' mean if anyone knows?

I now have the 140 dollars in my Paypal account. In my history there's a new transaction that says the payment has been reversed. Checked the transaction and it says 'Paypal reversed this payment and returned the money to your PayPal account.'  Well I got my refund so I'm pleased. I just hope it goes as smoothly for you guys as it it did for me.

Does anyone know exactly when the bootlegs started being made? Like if someone's had a YYR for over a year, that yoyo couldn't possibly be a fake.

Just noticed that a Chinese seller now has what I presume are fake YYRs, but pictured with boxes, so I presume they're now selling the fakes boxed as well.

Ca somebody weigh their fake Messiah? I think it is best way how to recognize fake, because fake Sleipnir is on 69-70g, Overdrive is around 68, just want to know about Messiah weight.

Mine should be coming back to me within the next couple days, and now that I actually have a real Messiah I was planning on doing just that.

So the fake Messiah weighed in at about 69g. I made a bit of a comprehensive guide of sorts to YYR authentication here:

http://www.yoyonation.com/talk/index.php/topic,104927.msg1110869.html#msg1110869

If anyone sees that I'm missing something or that something needs more clarification, let me know and I'll fix it.

Weird that the fakes weigh more when they're apparently made of a lighter aluminium alloy.

My guess is that they have to make the walls thicker to compensate for the lesser strength of the 6061 alloy.

Many thanks for this excellent counterfeit-detection thread, whose information lets us acquire genuine YYR's with confidence.  Much respect!

PS  Thanks for posting, just below, the DOA test (ie, Decal Overlap Appearance test).

Just my $0.02 here

as I see it, TP and YYR are what we could call "Luxury" brands. in anything luxury, the selling price is as much a selling argument than anything else. I believe that these brands are for the most hardcore fans. those would NEVER get a bootleg (they could make OD bootlegs as they want, I'm never getting one, unless someone gives it to me for free).

All in all, from a pure business standpoint, I believe this is actually not a bad commercial move for these brands. With all the talk going on, it sure is some good promotion for the genuine manufacturers (with that grey area of fakes being sold as legit) and they're getting more attention from the general yoyo crown than never before.

just trying to see the glas half full rather than half empty here. But even from a purely technical standpoint, all this talk sure improves their internet referencing, which is, all in all, a good thing.

Respectfully:

I, too, reach for the half-full glass, when it's there.  See that red yoyo on the left, in the shot above?   I never wanted that in my collection.  "That grey area" wasted over a month - over a month to do the right thing, pay more money than was warranted, remove the fake from circulation, and replace it with the one on the right.

It's guys passing fakes as real - putting victims through ordeals of time, added cost, disappointment, and straight-up loss - who suck the half-full glass dry.

This forum's zero-tolerance policy pleases me.  I shall do all I can to see it enforced.
