I just started yoyo'ing and bought a starlite as my first yoyo after a coworker recommended it. Sometimes I have some trouble with binding but i figure thats due to my inexperience so far but could be from my string being to tight? Ive noticed my string becomes really tight really fast usually. Also the sleep time on it doesnt seem to be as long as some of the videos im watching on it on youtube. Its brand new and only seen about 2 days worth of use. Ive read that when you get a new yoyo you should clean and oil but will this make that big of a difference? Besides cleaning it are there any ways to get it to sleep longer besides throwing harder cuz im throwing pretty hard as is. Also it is pretty wobbley and seems to favor one side or the other on some of my throws what could casue this?
Sorry if the questions of noobish, im just trying to learn as much as possible
Thanks

I wouldn't mess with the bearing. It sounds like you may be having trouble getting a tight wind on the yoyo. A good wind will have you generate spin and you also won't have any stability issues. Incorrect winding would also increase the string tension rapidly.
Am I on the right path here?

sounds like a definite possibility to me, ive had some really good tosses and some really bad ones. If a bad wind can do that stuff then that would explain the inconsistencies. Thanks!!

If you’ve had it a couple of weeks and it has those YYF white pads in it that could be a problem.. They’re terrible.. I’d re-silicone or get some better pads for it.. but if you're really new just practice lots

It's likely just your throw and your current inexperience. The guys in videos get great sleep times cause they have good throws and play smoothly. This comes naturally with experience.
Binding issues, wobbliness and titling on your throws are likely also the result of your lack of experience. Just keep at it and you'll no doubt improve.
Cleaning your bearing may improve sleep times. Lubing it is optional and can actually reduce sleep times, especially if you use too much.
