Help on certain mickey trick

Alright, trick has been teasing my brain for some time now.

See the cool thing he does at 1:03? Does anyone know how he does that maneuver where he kinda mounts the yoyo onto the string? Ive slowed it down and played it frame by frame but i can never see where the slack flies to. Any help would be appreciated.
