I have a beef that came to me vibey. i was a little ticked cause i was told by the guy it was dead smooth and im kind of a vibe ----. long story short i ended up stripping both the yoyo and the axle trying to eliminate the vibe. i kind of want to get it re tapped. first qustion, if i get it retapped, will it still have the same vibe it had before, make it better, or make it worse? if it will stay the same or make it better, is there anyone who can do that for me? Edit: lol thats not even a curse word

I'm not an expert, not even a novice. However I do a lot of reading. In my opinion I'd try a process of elimination. Maybe swap the bearing first? Then possibly wrap the axel in Teflon tape. (are there any Teflon coated yoyos?) Guess I'm just saying, try other means Of repair before getting medieval on it with a tap n die. I'm sure my advice sucks but hey, I bumped your thread.

i tried tuning it, kking it, the whole nine yards. as for the teflon tape, good idea but unfortunately it literally ripped all the threads out of one half of the yoyo so there would be nothing to bite into the tape. its buggered up pretty bad.

Wow, that sucks! Tap n die might be your solution then if your axel doesn't screw in. Hopefully someone with a wealth of experience can lead you in the right direction. It came to you with stripped threads? If so, I know your itching to throw but I'd send it back b

no just came vibey. i think its actually b grade too cause its vibey and the ano on the jimmy hat posts is thick enough you cant get a bearing on it.

My teacher once asked, "If I have 3 bottles in this hand and 2 bottles in this hand, what do I have?" " I replied with, "A drinking problem?" Best reason to get sent to the principles office....ever

I believe the "special sauce" in the SS Grind Monster was also a Teflon coating. But yeah, if your axle hole is stripped you're gonna have to either get it retapped for a bigger axle size, have the axle hole filled and retapped for its current size, or potentially (if you've got the nerve) Loctite the axle permanently into the stripped side.

*shudder* all i see comming from locktighting the axle is a worse vibe. what would you fil the whole with? some sort of resin or something? and i really want to know if retapping for a bigger size has the potential to make the vibe worse because if it will il probably just buy a new one and keep this one around till i eventually pick up a tap and die set (im an auto mechanic so i have been looking to get one anyway.) i just dont like the idea of paying for shipping and to have someone to do it for uncertain results.

I'd send it to Ricerocket if he's still active - I know he's done several tapping and retapping jobs, and he's quite reliable. Generally I think he would bore the hole out smooth on his lathe and epoxy a tight-fitting aluminum rod into the hole, then once it was cured he'd drill and tap the hole (still on his lathe to keep everything centered and smooth) in the rod. He also was known for stacking things that were never supposed to be stacked by boring out the center, inserting an aluminum rod long enough to make stacks on the outside of the yoyo, and then machining a bearing seat and tapped axle hole inside and a stack post on the outside.

Ricerocket is your best bet. If there's enough metal left, he might be able to just put a larger axle in without having to put in an insert.

I can do it with good results but I have a shipping problem. I tend to take forever to ship. I'm working on that though.
