When you turn the yoyo like you are about to unscrew it, something rotates, but not in a normal way. The yoyo still stays tight. I fear the entire bearing seat may be rotating, while the axle itself is still locked in place. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Most likely the hub around the solid spin part has cracked, trying holding the hub with plyers and opening the other side as normal :0

Put a drop of crazy glue between the plastic and the solid spin insert. You will have to remove the cap to do this.

Well, as we all know, the caps on the HMP are virtually impossible to remove. Any ideas on how to do this? Yes, I've tried making small "holes" and pulling it out to no avail.
I really wish YYJ would stop using translucent plastic. It's such a waste...

Stab it with a screw driver and push back like you would to remove a nail with a hammer.

i've enountered solid spin yoyo where the entire axle assembly rotates around when you try to unscrew it. I don't think it does any damage to the yoyo or the axle itself, but it's sure... weird.
try pulling the halves away from each other while rotating like you normally would while you unscrew a yoyo.

That's usually due to the plastic around the insert stripping from overtightening.

To remove 'difficult' caps I just drill a small 1/16" hole, then use a bent paper clip to pull the cap out, it works really well. I had to do this to my SFX, I just out the holes as a period after the SFX. and they look natural, if you are creative you can hid the hole so it is less noticeable. Using a screw driver is a great way to mutilate the cap, and probably the yoyo too. Once you have the caps off, then you can see what s really happening, and you may have to use some Crazy Glue seeped in and around the metal insert of the hub to allow to too grab again., Good luck.

I remember back then we used to use suction cups to remove caps... maybe the new ones are tougher?

I remember back then we used to use suction cups to remove caps... maybe the new ones are tougher? These are a hell of a lot tougher, they're made out of carbon fiber. The problem is, though, that they are put in there with way too much force.
