How do you know when you need change your string? Before, when I used cotton string, I used to just play it ‘till it breaks. But now I use yomega’s slick 6 string and it is frayed like crazy, has messed up tension, and my binds are slipping but it is still not breaking, so I want to know a good way to tell when to change your string, whole still using the string to its fullest?
Thanks in Advance!

Change it now.
I usually change my strings when they start fraying a lot and can't hold tension. So, yes. Change it now.

I changed it right after posting this thread. Now I'm using a fresh slick 6 . But can someone post an image or something to show when is the optimal time to change the string? If the string is only fraying a bit and you replace the string, you basically wasted it.

Well, if a string can no longer hold tension, it isn't a good string anymore, is it? It's based on your own personal preference though. Some people change their strings when they start fraying or when they just don't enjoy the feel of it. It's up to you when you want to change your string.

I found when using those same strings, when they loose all stretch, just gently pull on the string between your hands, if there is no give at all, the string is ready to be changed. they do not last very long those strings, Out of one of my handmade strings I can get a week easy, one of the slick 6, couple of hours of solid play they toast. Washing them will give you another hour or two of use.
