Did you clean the excess silicone off the sides before letting it dry? Sometimes I have to play my siliconed yoyos responsive for a bit until it breaks in.

Well, I left it an hour, then scraped off the bit on the sides. I've removed the silicone and I have applied a thinner amount. Hope it works, I'll let it dry for 24 hours then test it! But if it doesn't work, then what could be the reason?

Just wait till it dries and you throw it first. If it's snagging and then coming back when you tug it the it usually just need to be broken in, but if its coming back up like a regular responsive yoyo should then you did something wrong...

You can use flowable silicone (and non flowable) in any throw that will accept it...you'll know it doesn't by the depth of the groove. The DMII does in fact, take silicone.
You'll often find that your yoyo will be somewhat responsive after a level installation of silicone. Use the back of a spoon to create a concave divet in the response right after installation.
After the sili is dried....and your yoyo is too responsive for your liking. Try taking some dryer lint and rubbing it all over the response area. Make sure you remove your bearing first so it doesnt get any lint in it.
After that rub the response on a pair of jeans for a while. Not long at all.. Remove the axle and bearing to make it easier.
Or...you can just break it in. It's fun to play responsive.

What's dryer lint? Do you mean something like string (lint)? Sorry, I'm quite new to maintenence of a yoyo.

by the way, I tried rubbing it on my jeans, still as dry as ever. How long would I have to wait for it to break in?

Dryer Lint. The fuzzy blue/purple stuff you find in the lint catcher of your Drying machine.
Just rub it all in there.
A few hours of play should break it in to your liking.
What kind of sili are you using?

I'm using Versachem Flowable Silicone. And while I was rubbing it against my jeans, the yoyo accidentally slipped and my nail cut the silicone so I've re-applied it now. I'm just going to wait for tomorrow and play with it for a few hours. Thanks!

No problem!
Until you get better at siliconing (I recommend searching for a "How To" video or text) you will have a bit of responsiveness. Make the most of it. Playing Responsive can be a lot of fun once in a while.
I have a FHZ specifically set up to be responsive.

Ah, I see. I normally realy enjoy playing responsive but I'm trying to do tricks like plastic whip and the yoyo just comes right back up! But I'll hopefully sort it out soon! Thanks for all the help!

Check your bearing to make sure that isn't the problem. It should spin freely with a finger flick. If it doesn't, clean your bearing and see if that helps.

I'd only cleaned the bearing a few days ago with lighter fluid and lubed it.

Ok, I've played with my yoyo for about four hours now and it is still very responsive. Should I try to trim the silicone or something? I've ried rubbing it on jeans and other cloth but it doesn't work.

Up above.
And...
Just keep playing it dude. As your sili jobs get better...you won't have to wear it in so much.
Is the silicone flush to the yoyo? Raised higher?
Seriously grab a crap load of dryer lint (all of it from the tray) and rub it all over the sili.
Than play it. Don't forget to wipe the excess off.

I don't have a dryer, otherwise I would have done that. Is there an equivalent to dryer lint?

I've taken a look at images of dryer lint and it looks a lot like low quality sweaters and stuff like that like low quality felt?

There is almost a science to doing a silicone job sometimes.
Silicone is much more gripper than stock rubber orings are believe it or not. But what makes it "unresponsive" is the recess or how concave the silicone is, so your string doesn't touch it when the yoyo is spinning. If you concaved the silicone after applying it, it will be much less responsive compared to if you just left it flush with the surface.
If you didn't clean out the bearing seat good enough, it has a chance of rubbing against your bearing which will make it really responsive.Silicone wil also gum up a bearing very quickly if it gets in the bearing itself.
After I silicone a yoyo, I wait an hour or so and scrape off the unwanted stuff. Then I let it dry for 24 hours, and just break it in naturally. If the silicone is recessed properly in a concave shape, and all silicone is scraped off and cleaned very well, it should play good right from the getgo.
Hope that helps.
