Collin's Awesome Paintjobs! New reshape job p2.
« on: October 09, 2011, 02:20:54 PM »

Lame title, oh well.  Wink

Hey guys, got another Painting option for you.  Coming from my buddy Collin, he was pretty interested in the eggshell finish, and wanted to see if he could modify it some way.  In his efforts, he's found a way to get a nice smooth, glossy feel, while still maintaining that eggshell grindable surface.  Currently able to do solids, masking, and splashes.  However, he's willing to try pretty much anything.

Here are some examples of his work:

"Orange Cream Penguin" Axiom

"Purple Gloss" Rozzor

"Blue and White" 888

"Blue Mountain" Pre-production Wedgie
(set link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29459722@N07/sets/72157627663685156/with/6139025146/)

"Fire" Gorylla 411

"Freeing the Gunslinger" Pistolero

"Blue Grass Splash" Gorylla
(set link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29459722@N07/sets/72157627854762112/with/6227361738/)

Here's all the current photos I've got of his work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68847463@N07/sets/72157627931852286/

Pricing is pretty simple.  All he asks is you pay for paint costs, and shipping back to you.  This totals out to be a cool price of $35.

Available Options:
-Colors are no concern, if you want it, we can find it
-Solids
-Fades
-Splashes
-Swirls
-Gloss
-Eggshell
-BTE
-GITD

For GITD and BTE:
The Paint we use for GITD gives it a rich texture, similar to that of an actual media blast.  This is a far superior finish to that of eggshell (BTE) as far as paint goes.  However, to keep this finish, it will not be clear coated.  Therefore, if you want a BTE finish, it will require a GITD clear coat.  However, when we find a coating additive that allows for the BTE finish without the GITD side effects, we will employ this; until then, all BTE will be GITD.  This leaves you with a choice between three options:

-GITD with a BTE finish
-GITD with a gloss finish
-GITD with an eggshell finish

The gloss and eggshell are much more durable than the plain BTE, however they are not nearly as efficient with grinding or feel as the BTE.  If you want a Glow colorway with a gloss or eggshell, that's fine.  However, if you want a BTE finish without the glow, this isn't currently available; my apologies.

For any question, please send me a PM with an appropriate subject to keep things tidy.

For every deal that happens, there's 20 behind it that fall through.
It's probably some aluminum/unicorn horn alloy.

Does this paint add any weight to the yoyos? Cuz it seems like some of it is pretty heavy. eg. the Pistolero's engravings are like filled with paint.

Like Icthus said, all paints adds a bit of weight.  I would imagine that kind of paint ads about a gram.

if you add something to a yoyo, it will add weight.
Not if you add AN EXPLOSION!

But I guess I should've specified. A significant amount of weight. Weight that would change how the yoyos plays.

Heh, sorry for the lack of replies, heh.

No, there's no significant amount of weight added to the throws.  And, oddly enough, everything that gets painted seems to play somewhat lighter?  I noticed this with the Helix Brett painted for me a while ago, as well as some other painted throws I've played.

Yes Josh, Collin bought it off me...at that point, it was his to do with as he pleased.  He's actually repainting it, and when he cleaned the paint off, everything came out of the rotary engravings.  So reeeeeeeeelax.  Lol.

We're working on some new finishes, colorways, and the like.  Update is coming, no worries my friends.

Right so, this is the GITD Torino.  The GITD paint allows for a blast-like texture.  Grinds for ever, feels great in the hand, and better yet--doesn't feel like a painted throw!.  The Torino is lime green with grey splash, and then a GITD Clear coat on top.  Ignore the dings...it fell out of my pocket right after I had gotten home...  Anyways!

It's going to be repainted relatively soon.  Since we haven't had any business...collecting paint supplies is a bit, well, slow.

when I add holes it seems to make them lighter.

But technically when you "add" a hole, you are taking material away from the object...

Hey! We/Collin isn't dead!
The "Better Than Eggshell" Finish (that is, feels like its blasted!) has been perfected and is avaliable!
Swirl paint jobs are in the works!  Currently things are more clouded that Brett's masterpieces, but its still pretty neato!
Been busy with school and finals and such, sorry for the delay!

Remember the "Better Than Eggshell" guinea pig?  Well, now its sporting our newest finish:  A swirl Eggshell!

This is a white/orange swirl with a tangerine splash.  It's also in the wonderful eggshell finish (ignore the paint chips, lol).  The swirls are still the cool price of $35 a pop, too!

I received a painted Sakura.  Pretty nice paint job!  Basic, but grinds really well.
