Dark magic 2 response system
« on: October 08, 2011, 11:02:03 AM »

hello so my dark magic 2 was perfectly but then the response pad fell out on both sides. I was wondering what would be the best replacements for it or if siliconing would work on the yoyo.
advice would be appreciated.
thanks,
Rourke

Honestly i am not sure.  I dont have too much expierence with flowable silicone, but i dont think youd be able to use it on the DM2 without recessing the response area.

The Dark Magic II can accept flowable silicone/RTV silicone without a problem.  I prefer using RTV.  YYJ's pads are fine, but they wear quickly.

RTV doesn't flow, but it lasts longer.

Exactly.  RTV is a bit thicker and "goopy-er" than flowable.  It feels very similar when installed in your yoyo, but tends to last a few months longer than flowable.

If you've never siliconed a yoyo before I recommend that you use flowable before RTV.  Flowable is VERY easy to use, where RTV can be a serious pain if you don't apply it perfectly.  Both are easily removable, so if you mess up there's no harm at all.

Ok so I decided to silicone the yoyo and waited for it to dry. It dried but now it is very responsive, my theory is the silicone  will wear down to my prefered unresponsive play style am I correct?

I started using flowable silicone but it is too responsive. Is there a celery aim way to put it on?

Use less. It's like water, surface tension principles.

NKessler Normally recommends that you put it in the fridge when drying it out.

Also, if its responsive on the first throw after uve sili'd it...rub the response on your jeans or a shirt... It should wear the response down to unresponsiveness. Everyone keeps telling me this and it works...rub at least for 3-5 mins for each half
