Don't think that was intended The exact # sign wasn't intended, but I definitely pay close attention to how I splash. This includes things like streaks vs. bubbles, angle of splash, area covered, etc. I was definitely going for an 'X' pattern. I just got lucky with the actual # sign though.

Couple quick updates. Playing with green today. Loaded YoYo: Green on Green "Walter"Sorry for the blurry photo on this one. I didn't realize that it was blurry until I had packed it up to be shipped back to Rivi in Europe. I thought the green was a good match for the satin finish I applied. Sort of reminds me of ferns. This is a super cute yoyo, btw. It's small and has a ton of charm. I'd like to pick one up if I can find one. (We were originally planning a tan on brown splash for this yoyo, but for some strange reason, the brown simply wouldn't take. I actually had to ano this one twice until I realize that it was a problem with brown only. Sigh. Anodizing is finnicky.) Loaded YoYo: Green on Green Superstar with mirrored hubsThis is for GunstarHero. Vendetta did this technique with the masked hubs first on a TFL (I think). In this case, Josh mirror polished the hubs, but GalaxyBlasted the rest of the yoyo. I matched his masking during ano to give this yoyo a really elegant look from the sides. The hubs also reflect the color of the hubstacks.

Elegant is an understatement.
Indeed. This is amazing. I was planning on surprising myself but couldn't bear the anticipation. I am not in the least disappointed. This is such a classy job Josh. The Yellow hubstacks accentuate the finish quite well. I'm looking forward to getting this baby back. Reminds me of Wintergreen.

You're as good as anybody and better than no one.

Chris (SaintRobyn) just finished up a writeup on some of the anodizing I've done and took some amazing photos, both still and spinning.
Wonderful write-up. Looking at the spinning yo-yos makes me think of ones with a finish designed specifically for spinning, e.g. the finish at rest might be chaotic, dull, or just plain ugly, but spinning the yo-yo turns into a light show.

I have to say my absolute favorite spinning from the entire set I did for that article is the Essence that Jason uses for his profile picture. It was mirror polished before getting the Skittles treatment. The light catches that yo-yo in such interesting ways while in motion and it is just breathtaking. It is an absolutely gorgeous example of Jason's artwork. These pictures just do not do it justice.

Thanks Chris! I definitely have a special affinity for mirror polished throws. It really brings out the anodizing. Anodizing blasted throws also adds a layer of challenge because how the blast reacts with the anodizing process affects the final look of the product. Polished yoyos are nice in that they always come out the same way. Anyways it's been awhile since I've done a Skittles, so here is one for Alex Kato. Some might ask why you'd put a $90 ano job on a $20 yoyo... well, one because it's his signature throw and two because it's an awesome yoyo regardless of price... Loaded YoYo: "Silver Skittles" YoYoFactory JK Look close and you can see my reflection...
