They are fine and all, wish I got to choose the color. Bleh.
Anyway- when you loop, are your yoyos supposed to sleep at the end of the string? My raiders sleep at the end of the string no matter what way I throw it. I lubed it quite a bit, and it still sleeps for about a half second which I am not sure is normal. String is single looped around the bearing, btw. Do most loopers double loop?
And finally, what does it mean if I loop upwards instead of straight? I read that it has to do with the string length, and I want it to loop straight forward more. What should I do?

"floaty" is undefined and it should be avoided

I was reading that "stock" raiders work fine for looping, just are not the best. Is it that necessary to do the mod?

I personally don't have a raider, but I'll say it's okay to use stock raider. Just add thick lube in the bearing and everything should be fine. Also take a look at Pat's diagram on that thread, you need longer string for stock raiders to reduce the upward effect. Triple looping might also help.

Looping is all about preference...as most things in yoyoing are. Raiders are beast loopers. Some people prefer raiders, some prefer 900's, some relics, some imperials. It's all about what feels best for you.
Try double looping the string for a while and see how you like it. The yoyo is meant to sleep for a few seconds in order to perform more advanced tricks such as tanglers. You should get to a point where you can make it sleep when you want to and loop consistently when you don't.

Loops usually require more than 1 loop for string, even up to 5 for preference. That's probably the reason it's sleeping.
Hope you're using non-100% polyester string.

Good point Tet. Cotton string is preferable for looping or (2a) but again..I'm sure there are people out there who use poly. There's always a weird one in the bunch.

Not sure if Raiders have an adjustable gap. but make sure its tight. Also, I always use 50/50 type 8 for looping. Make sure your tension is also not too loose or too tight, its a constant struggle to keep great tension when doing 2A but pay attention to it, its really important.

Cotton string will break every 5 minutes if you loop with it, if you use 50/50 cotton poly blend (know as "slick" usually with the thread count after, as in slick 6/slick it will last much longer. I've never had any issue with looping with poly, except with wooden axles which will melt it. As for your Raiders not being responsive enough make sure you are lubing with "thick" lube for best results. I dont have any stock Raiders, but I have never had to double loop the string on any of my loopers. I use Yomega Brain Lube on my loopers and it is THICK, one drop of it and a yoyo that was slipping a bit now snaps right back.

Along with my 2 raiders I bought the maintenance kit, and I have tried several times to lube it and increase response. It doesn't seem to work. Ill look into it again, maybe i'm doing it wrong. Idk. Thanks for all the help btw

What size spacers do you have in it? Try different colors. I'm not sure what color it is, but if you can eye it up find the thinnest spacers and put them in.

You need to lube it with VASELINE. Then it will work great. No Yomega lube(its really meant for their non bearing yoyos to increase response), no light oil, Vaseline or petroleum jelly only. Put a little bit, onto each spacer(on bearing side), about the amount of kernel of popcorn, just a small blob, and assemble the yoyo. Take an old string and run it through the gap to clean the excess Vaseline out, and put on a new string, and you'll be golden.

I love yoyofactory! :D

do what the guy above me said, and if your raiders came with dif color spacers then use the red ones. and if it didnt then you can get plastic spacers for really cheap and those are the best for looping with raiders in my opinoin. also try shanging your string length but only like half an inch at a time because just a half inch makes a big difference. good luck!
