I can't believe it still works
« on: August 12, 2011, 01:50:52 PM »

So about a year ago, I was trying to learn some horizontal tricks with my addiction. I ended up smashing part of the  lamp over my head accidentally, and glass got stuck in the yoyo. I put it down after that, and until today, I hadn't touched it. When I was going through some of my yoyos, I decided to try it again, and figured out that it plays really well. Is there a way for me to take out the glass or should I put another finish on it so I could use it again? It's an amazing yoyo and I don't want to give it up

I too am having trouble wrapping my brain around this...

Also, it may not be a good idea to play with a yoyo that has broken glass stuck in it.

Try to pull it out with pliers.  If that doesn't work, try to slowly push it out with a needle.

I think sanding the glass would be a good Idea (if it somehow sharp), just be careful not to accidentally sand the finish.

Sand it down. Best option you've got. I'd put some clear nail polish over it when you're done, as well... Just in case it does decide to slip out one day. I bet that would take an eye out if it was spinning hard enough. Haha.

Yeah, I'd just sand it down and put some clear substance over it to keep it from flying out. Frankly, I'd want to keep that thing and show it off - "Hey guys, check this out! I got some GLASS stuck in my metal yoyo! ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED."  Grin

For those having trouble wrapping their heads around glass getting into a yoyo...What do you think your yoyos were blasted with? Glass beads are common media for blasting aluminum and they aren't even as sharp as a shard of glass. Yes, glass easily cuts aluminum with the right force and angle.

I don't think the question is glass cutting the aluminum. I've dinged up yoyos on light covers that are glass.

I just find it hard to believe the glass would stick in the yoyo.

I think they are probably just metal burs.
