Currently I am really into looping, and once I have gotten enough to satisfy myself I plan to learn how to do freestyle/1a/string tricks. I really have fun learning how to do things and the practice is fun as well, but I feel that once I can do the majority of tricks, where does it go from there? I know that sounds ridiculous, like "You will never reach the end" but I feel like eventually you will hit a wall and there is little to do anymore that you haven't done already. Eventually your interest dies out because there's nothing new, right? Anyway, tell me your thoughts, and also tell me how long you've been yoyoing Danke.

I guess it really depends on the person and whether they stick with it or not. There's always something new to learn. I've been throwing for about a year and a half and I'm not planning to stop anytime soon.

I'm getting "I <3 TO YOYO" tattooed on my knuckles, for what that's worth. The "O"s will be yoyos, . What you can do is limited only by your own creativity. Coming up on six years, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm getting "I <3 TO YOYO" tattooed on my knuckles, for what that's worth. The "O"s will be yoyos, . What you can do is limited only by your own creativity. Coming up on six years, if I'm not mistaken. Perfection. You can do almost anything with a yoyo. There is no limit to the number of tricks that are possible with a modern yoyo. Of course there is an eventual "end" to modern yoyoing as we know it, but a new piece of technology will come along to replace it. Yoyoing is the type of hobby that revolves entirely around your own ideas. If you want to do something, you can do it. New styles are popping up every few weeks and that trend doesn't seem to be slowing down. The possibilities are completely endless (of course not literally, but you understand what I'm trying to say). As long as you keep throwing your yoyo, you'll come up with new ideas you'd like to explore.

no any tricks from tutorial are not "that" good, and even if it's a tutorial made by a world champion, it will never satisfy me. I would personally made my own tricks and try to beat those pro's tricks. "majority of tricks" is not even close to the advanced league. I bought a wooden yoyo for the first time when i'm 5 years old. Three years ago I started modern yoyoing and even now, my tricks aren't satisfy me enough... this is one of my newest trick, does this satisfy me?.... no don't limit yourself in yoyoing... go try my trick above if you think you've learned enough...

there is not a fixed amount of tricks that one can do with a yoyo, in most styles, aside of 1A, people only have a few tricks to get started and from then, they make their own tricks
yoyoing is about expressing yourself (at least the artistic approach) much like dancing, so with time, you create your own moves, develop your own style
and art doesn't get boring, if you're an artist, you'll remain an artist until you die
if your approach is to learn all the yoyo tricks out there from tutorials, I say you're doing it wrong and you'll eventually get bored after some time.

Yep, once you learn them all it probably would get boring, but that's like saying that traveling would get boring once you've visited every major city, that you're finished with movies because you've seen them all, or that you put down your guitar because you learned every song. In theory yes, it could get dull, but I doubt it will ever be an issue.
I've being yoyoing regularly for about a year and a half now, and every time I go looking for vids I find something that impresses me. As your abilities advance your understanding grows with them and tricks that looked like magic seem to make sense. Just this morning I re-watched Guy Wright's "The Letter Blue" video and now that I can wrap my mind around what he's doing it makes it that much more impressive.
(and that's not mentioning that there are 5 distinct styles that are in common practice, all of which require different skill sets.)

One name. Jensen Kimmitt.
He can yoyo for hours on end, with out getting bored. Look where he is.
You can always invent, and to me, inventing is always fun. If there's a concept you like, anything from Slacks to Boingy/Hoppy tricks, you could build on it to manufacture tricks you like.

How floaty is the 44? We measured it on a floaty-o-meter and it scored a 44.

Tied up and ready to yo!

You know, after 6 years of playing, one of my favourite sensations is still just the feeling of a yoyo rolling down and rolling up.
I suppose if you just want to learn as many tricks as possible, you probably will get bored. But yoyoing is my sanctuary, my form of meditation - how I clear my mind and expand my thoughts.
I see it as visual poetry. We have rules and grammar (mostly governed by physics) just like poetry has words. The difference is how you represent or present those words. Sure, a Trapeze is just a Trapeze, but it is also so much more than that.

this, definitely this yoyoing is much more than just doing tricks with a yoyo, it's a community, an art, a sport, a way to express yourself, relax, meditate or just chill. if you get bored with it, you're doing it wrong

Go about it however you want, whatever makes you want to yoyo, learn all the tutorials if that is what makes you happy. Aside from what some of these guys think there is no 'right way' to do it, they just think 'their way is the right way', and that is typical of most things in life. In my opinion, some of you really think a little too hard about yoyo, its just a freaking toy, its not a gate to another dimension, its not the keys to the universe, its a toy, have fun with it however you want, and that includes, if you just want to analyze it, hell analyze away, I think thats kinda goofy, but whatever floats your boat, just dont get caught up thinking your way is the only right way

"my right way" is to share it with people, and as long as I find it fun, then I'll keep doing it.
