YoYoFactory 888 yoyo (eight8eight) #16516
YoYoFactory 888 yoyo (eight8eight) View Details
Print
The newest edition to the YoYoFactory family has finally arrived, the YoYoFactory 888 yo-yo!!

If you enjoyed the YoYoFactory G5, then the eight8eight (888) yo-yo is right up your alley.

Smaller in size, but offering a full body, the eight8eight (888) will blow you away with its superior stable play and great silicone-response.

Like the G5, these have the wildly fun side-bearing caps - allowing you to hold the yo-yo from its sides and watch it spin as you turn it in multiple planes and angles. Let creativity ring!

It should also be mentioned that these eight8eights all come with white hubstacks!! This following quote is taken from the YoYoFactory pages: "The addition of hubstacks does NOT, for even one moment, detract from the smooth spin and string play, but opens the door to more play options."

Grab an eight8eight (888) before they go zero0zero!!

This is my first and only yoyo with hubcaps. I found it to be of a perfect weight with an incredibly smooth feel. The eight8eight's main bearing, a dorothy bearing, is very smooth on this even smoother yoyo. Grinds are pretty good, though not as good as a pyro. I found the surface coating to almost ruin that feel of a metal yoyo. The best part of a metal yoyo is that special feel the surface has. The eight8eight gets rid of that with its special coating. I cannot stress how much you need to be aware of its size. This is a very small yoyo. It is almost a mini. I was originally not a fan of small yoyos, but this showed me how great they are. It takes up little room, allowing for easier access to the string. Now hubcaps, let's not forget about the hubcaps. If you are getting an eight8eight because of the novelty of hubcaps, don't get it at all. Sure, the hubcaps are fun, sure they can be useful sometimes, but during standard 1A, they will not help you. It's a quirk at best. It's a little extra that the guys at yoyofactory throw in for you. If you intend to get any yoyo mainly for the hubcaps, then I'd say save your money. The silicone response system is......different. It is not better. It is not worse. I am a friction sticker fan, but I can easily live with this. It's a solid response system that offers tight binds with low response. It does have a higher tendency to snag though. This yoyo looks great. It's a bright aqua blue that is sure to catch attention. I love the look of it. I'd only rather not have the slight h profile. Overall, it's a solid, small yoyo that can easily keep up with you. Yoyonation is right though. This is an intermediate player. If you're a beginner, you're too inexperienced to use this yoyo, but if you are an advanced player, you will eventually wind up wanting more. I give this yoyo a 9/10

wow this is the first yoyo i ever played.. well real yoyo considering i only ever owned duncan butterfly... (cough)crap. anyway a kid moved in next door and showed me his yo dang i never played something so incredible wat really threw me for a loop was when he said it was 100 bucks so in comparison to a duncan butteerfly i have to say this yoyo is a life saver.

this yoyo is phenominal! it feels great, the size and wheight both feel really good. the hubstacks make every other yoyo i have feel like theyre missing something and just add sooooo much. the silicone response is really good as usual, its nice and unresponsive but binding is really easy with it. the bearing in mine was really stiff and crap even when i cleaned it but i put a kk in which i would deffinately recomend. 5/5 buy 1!

Basically, this thing is not for newer players or people that don't want to feel that they don't throw very well. The reason for that is that the big gap and dorothy bearing will cause it to wobble/gyro after a lackluster throw OR during sloppy string play. There is nothing wrong with the yoyo, just the player(generally!). People have griped about it and I just wanted to put my two cents in. Also, I am liking the dorothy bearing a lot; it sleeps forever, is relatively silent and is nice and smooth. A kk would allow for more breathing room while performing a newer trick and would make the yo a bit more forgiving, but in all honesty, I am not the greatest player and I like the dorothy just fine. It is on par with my kk(aside from shape, of course). ******This last part is important****** I have been told by scads of people to not clean a dorothy, they don't need it. Mine plays beautifully after a total of twelve hours of play and it is only getting better and noisier. If you run into an issue with a dorothy, get a hold of Ben(the yoyofactory man) and send it to him or do whatever he asks because he backs his products well and will help you out. This yo is not what I expected, but is still the best yo I have ever thrown...that is especially applicable when I think about it's diameter and other dimensions.

I just got my 888! its awsome!!!! except for the fact that i just thought that it was a bit noisy, as in the bearing. so i lubed it like crazy. then it was silent. Yippee! but it was overly responsive sob. so i hope i can wear out the yomega lube i just put in the dorothy. yes, i know i'm a moron.
