The weight distribtution is incredible, the yoyo is actually on the heavy side, but during play it feels light and fast on the string, giving you the best of both worlds. The hybrid response is a more versatile system than the Dual O-Rings featured in other YYJs as they can be played just as well at a high response setting as they can at a low response setting, making this yoyo superb for any level of player. Author: Yo-Yo Master this yo-yo is curently my main and i can say that it has done me good. it has taken me from some of the most simple strink tricks like brain twister, all the way to some of the most complicated such as ladder escape. just pop in a freshly lubed concave bering, lose the caps, and add some spacers (all this makes the yo-yo verey unresponsive but that is the way i like it) and all i have to say is WOW. one of the best yo-yos i have found for thumb grinds (w/o the caps that is) and it holds the string loop open just right for suicides. but if u like a yo with more respons then go with a hitman. P.S., Hey chipmunk guy, a bind is a reverse under mount that you forcefully feed into the gap to make an unresponsive yo return. You basically feed tons of slack into the gap of an unresponsive yo. With the stock bearing, I was surprised by the spin times and the playability. After I got my KK I was blown away. Mine sleeps for over 2.5 minutes. It's amazing with or without a KK. Packaging: N/A its a package, not that important. Look: I like the combination of metal and plastic. The pogs also look cool depending on which one you get. Weight: I love the weight, its just perfect. At 70 grams it may be heavy for some but I think its perfect for string tricks. Its also great for offstring, and I've looped with it. (This is not recommened and I failed miserably.) Smoothness: Its really smooth. If not for the annoying sound the starbursts make then I wouldn't be able to tell it was spinning. Play: Its kind of wide so its may be tricky at first to hit certain strings, like in Cold Fusion. Its great though regardless of width. Other: The weight gives it great spin times. When I got it, I took out the caps, and did nothing else. At first, it was too responsive, but after an hour, it became unresponsive enough to do grinds which are very good with this yoyo, but I'll get to that later., and other things, but it was still really responsive. It slept for about 2 minutes too, and was wide, so it was easy to preform tricks. Playability: One word: Amazing! Unless your throw is funky, the yoyo doesn't vibrate, or wobble, at all. Most likely, it will not die during tricks. Because of its width, it is really easy to do a lot of tricks. In fact, the day I got it, I learned Kamikaze! The weight is really focused to the rims, resulting in long spin time, and the shape is unique, yet comfortable in the hand. Also, the hybrid response is really great; it can be responsive and unresponsive too. In addition, the Hybrid Response is great for suicides, and lacerations. Size: This was one of the things about the Dark Magic that surprised me. Not in a bad way, because its size is one of its attributes that contributes to the success of it. However, compared to other Ia yoyos, it is noticeably large, but the weight wasnt an issue with me. You will get used to the size eventually. It is slightly wider and larger then the kickside, but smaller then the Journey. Grinds: When grinding, it feels like a cool gentle breeze on my arm. Honestly. It will spin on my arm, then, it will have more spin left afterward. I was never good at grinding, but now i can manipulate grinds as I wish, and pull of stunning grinds! The flat rims dont only prove good for snap starts, but also add greatness to grinding, Thumb Grinds: I was also never good at these, but the Dark Magic took this to a whole new level. It was made for them, and the way Andre designed it, was with 2 grooves, inner, and outer. The inner was made for more control, and progressed slower as it rotated. The outer ridge, progressed faster, however, took less spin time, whereas, the inner takes a lot of spin time. Overall: 9.5/10 Really great yoyo! Thx YoYoJam, and Andre!!!!! It is true its very responsive whin you first get it, but all you have to do i give it some thin lube and then it goes unresponsive. If you get the Konkave bearing upgrade its even better. When I realized he was using one of these in all of the videos, I decided to buy one. The yo-yo is a decent price and is extremely capable (as seen in the videos, obviously). The only problem I've had with it is that it cracks easily. Not the fault of the yo-yo, but if it does hit the ground, it's likely to crack. It sleeps long with more than 50% of it's weight in the outer metal rings. Author: Phillip Sapp i loved my protostar, this changes everything! the best yet Author: stringburnt looks great, arm grinds very well, has long sleep times, has nice weight, but is light while doing tricks , extremely stable, irgs are great (but i use thin lube on the inner ring lol, and sometime clean it with a q tip), caps are rattley sometimes, and one is made to fit looser (it spins), came with an awesome yyj speed bearing, and it has a different cage system (i forgot to lube it or something(its my fault) for way to long and it has a nasty finger flick speed wobble now (the stock bearing), slows quickly when tooo much string is in the gap (i use yyn highlights) and through sloppy tricks.overall a great yo-yo, i would rate it 8.1/10 Author: Sb it looks like some of the reviews are from people who dont have a dm lol, and i find there is too much hype over this yoyo, i think its because of expertvillage and operation dark magic vids.lots of yoyos can do that. look, its not unresponsive even with r shims and a cleaned bearing. the reviews say almost the same as the description does. its not really (Quote:) "HOOOOLYYYYY SH*T!!!
