The Freehand Zero is Duncan's answer to all the original Freehand. As some may know, after a long run of the original Freehand, Duncan stopped producing it and left many FH fans without the yoyo they loved so much. After a long hiatus Duncan decided to take it back to basics and produce this, the Freehand Zero. It features the same shape as an original Freehand, but with many enhanced modifications: The indented circle for the friction sticker to fit precisely, the optional metal shim or rubber shim behind the spacers, and multiple counterweights so you can choose whatever suits your style. This yoyo has taken the original Freehand to the next level and is a great successor.

There are many options to choose from:

- Color of yoyo
- Counterweight "head"
- Color of Counterweight "dice"

NEW! You can now choose the EXACT color of yoyo you want. Whichever yoyo color you choose, that's the color you'll get.

However, the counterweight and the die are quite random, so we'll match these to your preference as best as we can.

This is one of the best yoyo's! It is incredibly strong, and versatile. I recommend using just one friction sticker. Carefully remove (peel) one sticker, Stick it to the package for later use. It is plenty responsive with one sticker. What makes this yoyo so versatile is experimenting with different friction stickers. With one difpad it plays unresponsive. with one Duncan sticker (fresh) it is pretty responsive. Once the sticker starts wear in it gets less responsive. When you first throw it you may think it is to responsive, but keep throwing it, I promise you it gets better, and better with play. With two Duncan stickers it is very responsive. The yoyo can be set up many different ways, there is sure to be a set up that you will like. The yoyo also comes with o-rings, and two different size sets of spacers (gold and silver in color), these are used to change the gap width. If you use the spacers, just make sure you remove the o-rings first (a silly mistake I made with my first FHz). The silver spacers are thinner then the gold ones. So for a wide fixed gap use the gold color spacers, for a narrower fixed gap use the silver spacers, or you can use one silver, and one gold, to get a third gap size. Using the spacers gives the yoyo a fixed gap, using the o-rings makes the gap adjustable. Another possibility it to use a spacer (gold or silver) on one side, and a o-ring on the other. This gives a wider the gap and still remains adjustable. It is nice to be able to tweak the gap, as the friction sticker(s), and string wear in. Another great thing about the Zero is it is tough as nails! I have abused one of mine, hitting a concrete driveway and sidewalk with it on more then one occasion. What's amazing is, it hardly even marked it up. The dings actually seemed to buff themselves out, from doing grinds and walking the dog on the carpet. You can clean the bearing with mineral spirits, or lighter fluid to make it less responsive, but I prefer just throwing it, and eventually the bearing will brake in. I have found that Yo-Yo Jam thin lube is great, it almost works like cleaning the bearing, but without the adverse effects of wear, that cleaning with solvents can do. A dry bearing will play great, but with no lubrication it can wear out faster. If you do clean a bearing with a solvent, a good idea is to apply a tiny bit of lube after cleaning. I like to put a drop on a pin, and then touch the pin to the inside race edge of the bearing, applying less then 1 drop of lube. The Freehand Zero is a great yoyo for Freehand, also called counter weight, and 5A. However I use the Freehand Zero for single A. This yoyo comes in so many cool colors! So cool that I have 11, and I keep buying more of them :-). It is also possible to remove the caps, so you can switch the caps with other Zero's to come up with your own color combinations. I still want a green with yellow caps, and a blue with green caps, then I can make an all GREEN one! I already have the Yellow with Blue caps, so I may put that one in the mix to come up with, solid yellow, solid blue and solid green. The Freehand Zero is a great yo-yo stock out of the package. But I must say it is also one of, if not the best yoyo for modification, by recessing one side. You do need a lathe to do this mod, however rumor has it, that YoYoNation is getting some already modded by Takeshi (the inventor of the one sided friction sticker recess)! When they get them in, all I can tell you is get one, don't even think about it, get one before they are gone! The Beauty of Takeshi's Mod, is using a sticker on the recessed side gives you unresponsive play that is smooth as glass, and a tight wound return with a bind. If you want the yoyo to play like a stock one again all you have to do is put a sticker on the side that is not recessed. I recently tried a "Paul Yath carbon fiber sticker" on the non-recessed side, along with a Duncan sticker on the recessed side, the results were so amazing! In conclusion, I gave this yoyo 5 stars, but it is the only yo-yo I would give an 11 if I could! For a Yo-Yo that is less then 20 dollars it is a must have! This is the only yo-yo that I liked so much that I bought more then 10 of them! There are a few yoyo's that I have two's of, but I'm really not a diehard collector. I have never run across a yo-yo that I liked so much! In the 70.00 and less range The Freehand Zero is my top pick! A Takeshi recessed Freehand Zero, is like having an outrageous car, the car would be worth raving about left stock, but if you put a supercharger, open headers and an upgraded suspension in it..........LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have this and have been throwing it around a bit. Keep in mind that I'm a newbie... It's nice, but I REALLY want to try the recessed ones...i feel this yoyo may be a bit too responsive...Maybe it will get better when Pat mod's it a bit for me. Awww yeah... Pat won't let me touch the recessed ones yet. What a jerk!

I bought one of these at a Sport's Chalet near me and I think it was well worth the money. With one sticker and a dorothy bearing it rocks! I highly recommend it! The best bang for your buck yoyo out there. :-)

Author: Jonathan Loyd
i had the same prob as weber it was so responsive!!and it could ent sleep for 10 seconds without coming back or stopping, i sugest to recess it

Author: Jeremy Levine
This is a great yoyo... you don't need to recess it, but I recommend ditching the friction stickers and putting in a Kentaro pad in its place. Much longer sleep times.

Author: actionM
this is an amazing yoyo for the price. You might wanna order some different friction stickers along with this tho.

Author: snakebite
this really is a great yoyo for only 18 dollars. @jonathan: you don't have to recess it. i solved that problem by putting in 2 worn out friction stickers and a small spacer and a big one. it binds really good and it isn't too responsive. with this setup i can let it sleep for bout 30 secs.

its plays amazing!!! 1 of the best plastic 1a,4a,5a yoyo ever produced

Author: yojimdad
if you are tired of going through so many stickers put 1 worn one on each side, then put in the brass spacers with o-rings. you might have to get the bearing replacement pack but its worth it. try it.
