From the Archives: Brazil’s Finest Visit NYC

Below, another installment of “YoYoNation’s 60 Seconds”, which in this case really means about four minutes.

The week before Worlds, Pat interviewed Brazilian yo-yo powerhouses Rodrigo “Sid” Pires (Brazil #4) and Danilo Packer (two-time Brazil National Champion and 1A placer in NYC’s 2007 International Yo-Yo Open) during their trip to NYC, covering Rage Against the Machine, the limitations of 10-day visas, São Paulo vs. New York, and crazy people (os loucos). Pat’s multilingual abilities also extend to Portuguese! Check it out.

YoYoNation’s 60 Seconds with Connor Scholten!

A big thanks to Todd Lester for pulling together back-to-back grassroots yo-yo meets in NYC this weekend!

Meet #1 in Tompkins Square Park on Saturday took place amidst the festivities of the Tompkins Square Carnival, which included acts such as some guy playing the theremin, YoYoNation’s Pat Cuartero doing a routine to Justin Timberlake + frenetic Japanese music, and a pretty awesome middle-school band cover of “The Hardest Button To Button” by The White Stripes.

Also in the lineup was a surprise appearance by Connor Scholten aka Sideshowbob, on vacay in New York all the way from Michigan. YoYoNation caught up with this amazing yo-yo and juggling talent for just a minute (or actually, 1 minute 42 seconds).

So, has Connor really been practicing his 2A? Looks like it. Rare footage of Connor-Pat 2A duel follows.
