2007 Bay Area Classic - The Expedition - Day 1.

Greetings from the left coast!

The YYN crew arrived in sunny San Francisco this afternoon in advance of this weekend’s 2007 Bay Area Classic. Here’s a picture of Pat and Weber (with a YoYoFactory G5, Black Edition) next to today’s San Francisco Chronicle — you know, just to prove that they are, in fact, here.

We note that there are a lot of things to eat in San Francisco. Second only to yo-yoing, food makes us very happy. Consider, for example, In-N-Out burgers, clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls at Fisherman’s Wharf, and Ghirardelli chocolate / ice cream (as demonstrated below by a burger, Amy and Tim, respectively).

Taking a brief pause in our eating adventures, we swung by the Self Edge denim store on Valencia Street to meet up with owner Kiya Babzani (of Anti-Yo and Turf fame, and also an organizer of this year’s BAC!) Self Edge has already been featured in the SF Chronicle and Details magazine, among other major publications, and has generally continued to explode across the fashion scene.

After dinner (which occurred not long afterwards, and was delicious), Kiya introduced us to a bitter, herby liqueur called fernet, which is apparently drunk more per capita in San Francisco than in any area outside of Argentina. All in all, a good day of nutritional preparation for this weekend’s scheduled BAC activities.

Stay tuned for ongoing updates as we approach the competition!

Yay Area Classic Yo-Yo Contest - Daily(?) Coverage

Listen up, Nationites!

As you may or may not know, the YoYoNation crew (Amy, Tim, Weber, and I), will be traveling 3000 miles or so to the Bay Area.

Why? Well, to bring you coverage of the Bay Area Classic Yo-Yo Contest (and our culinary adventures with Kiya) like no others can.

Keep checking this page for some interesting posts…see you at BAC!

(And good luck to those going to and competing at the Northeast Regional Yo-Yo Contest!)
