Japanese Yo-Yo Stars Competing at BAC
Konichiwa, Nationites!
Tsubasa Onishi, Mark “Yosshi” Mikamoto, and Yusuke Moriki share a few words with YoYoNation.com about BAC and the upcoming PRO-TEAM MELTDOWN!
Just in case you didn’t know, here are a few facts about them:
Tsubasa Onishi: 2004 4A World Yo-Yo Champion, 2005 and 2006 4A US National Champion (he currently studies in Las Vegas, and is therefore eligible to compete at the National Yo-Yo Contest as a US player), ear-trick master, Team Buzzon / Throw_Yo.
Mark “Yosshi” Mikamoto: Current “Iron Man” of Yo, Team YoYoJam, and yo-yo teacher / mentor.
Yusuke Moriki: Team Buzzon / Throw_Yo, North Japan Regional Yo-Yo Contest, 2A 2nd Place, overall “funny-trick” master.
They’re all amazing players, and are competitors for the PRO-TEAM MELTDOWN. What is the Pro-Team meltdown, you ask?
Well, it’s a “side contest” at BAC where representatives from certain companies are called on stage and have to perform a RANDOM style of yo-yo play. For example, if the judges call “5A”, the competitor will have to pick up a 5A yo-yo, and start doing a full minute of 5A to the best of their ability. What’s it mean? Well, it means that all of the competitors have to have SOME knowledge of ALL of the styles of yo-yo play, but we all know that they all have strengths and weaknesses. It’ll be interesting to see who comes through as the winner at the end. There are some AMAZING competitors at this event!
Here are some comments from our Japanese friends, who will all be competing against each other at the Pro-Team Meltdown.
