After his wonderful performance at PNWR some days ago (3th place), CLYW’s youngest member Zach Gormley keeps amazing us by releasing his recent yoyo video, which is top notch material in my opinion (skills- and background/editingwise). Please watch in HD to enjoy it in total!
That’s right, a motorized yo-yo:
I don’t really know the backstory on this, but more info when I get it
After 2 years of fine-tuning their Pearl coating (we all remember the E1NS Pearl and Pearl Noctu as the first Pearl models), ILOVEYOYO is proud to announce Pearl 2.0 or just Pearl since it replaces the previous coating. On their website they explain this improved coating like this: “it’s a special kind of hard anodizing which has some certain qualities to it. Maximum resistance to abrasion, greatest possible sleekness, maximum hardness/toughness and much increased chemical resistance. According to the anodizing shop this particular coating surpasses similar coatings by competitors up to 30% regarding the quality of the coating features.”
ILYY says that in the future, more yoyos will feature this new Pearl coating but in limited quantities since it’s not really a fancy looking coating, but rather something technical where it’s about the extra features as stated above.
Can’t wait to hold one of those special coated yoyos in my hand and test if they are as durable as promised. From my own experience ILYY never fails at meeting their high standards, so expect the new Pearl 2.0 coating to be VERY resistant and capable of taking some beating !
OneDrop have just put out pictures of the yoyo that was recently designed on the YYN Fourm, by fourm members!

Looking pretty swish if i must say! The first run will Hit YYN in Green/Clear and Purple/Clear Fades!
Previously on the hspin website: The PYRO III is the continuation of the PYRO series yoyo legend. It embodies the same design principles, with a significant update to today’s playing style preferences (including large bearing and flowable silicone response). 149 pieces produced only. Owning a yoyo of this batch is more than just owning a world class top definition Swiss made metal yoyo. You’re part of a legend.
Specs:
Weight: 65.5g
Diameter: 52.0mm
Width: 41.9mm
Gap: ~4mm
Bearing: 13mm (Large metric bearing indeed !!)
ChrisK even gave customers the opportunity to personalize their own PYRO III by giving them the chance to put their own name, nickname or slogan on the yoyo as a laser engraving. I think this is the first time a manufacturer takes an initiative like this, which is AWESOME.
UPDATE February 23th: After a 3 month radio silence it seems like the final version of the PYRO III is ready to go. Yesterday ChrisK gave an interesting update on the PYRO III on his website:
– PYRO III are machined, anodized, personalized
– Flames-view of the PYRO III below (teaser of final version PYRO III)
– I am taking time out of my schedule and am siliconing the PYRO III myself. Sorting out the siliconing caused a bit of delay.
– If all goes well, all preorders should reach their owners in March 2011. As communicated offline, we apologize for the delay and hope for your understanding.
In my opinion the combination of the black matte finish and the red flames is just insane. I really dig it. Let’s hope these will be available soon!
